Peanut Butter Crisscrosses

125 mL Shorting
125 mL Granulated Sugar
125 mL Brown Sugar
2 mL Vanilla
1 Egg, beaten
125 mL Peanut Butter
375 mL Sifted Enriched Flour
5 mL Baking Soda
1 mL Salt

Sift flour, soda and salt together. Thoroughly cream shortening, Add white and brown sugar and vanilla, blend until light and fluffy. Add beaten egg and mix thoroughly. Stir in peanut butter. Stir in sifted dry ingredients. Form in tiny balls (2.5 cm in diameter). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press each ball twice with fork. Bake 190 degrees for 10 minutes.
